Creating Your Classroom Website
Using FrontPage 2003
A teacher-made website is not only a source of
great personal pride, but the most contemporary
way to post daily homework assignments, link to
content-related online materials, and post calendars
or announcements. Web-wise teachers improve
parent communication through 24-hour access
to content and important information. Most
importantly, a teacher website is a teaching tool
that can be utilized on a daily basis to differentiate
for all types of learners.
Many teachers MISTAKENLY think a website is
difficult to create and time-consuming to maintain.
Actually, creating a simple, functional website is no
more difficult than creating a Word document!
Once online, a website takes as little as five minutes
a day to update. More advanced participants can also improve upon
an existing website with tips and tricks to keep it
simple, functional and easy to maintain. Participants
can also learn how to develop innovative
online projects that have the potential to be paperfree.
Teachers in any subject area and any grade level will benefit from both the flexible, individualized instruction during the course and some valuable time to actually build the site.
