Hours of Operation
Open seven days a week from early May through late October. Hours are 9 A.M. to 5 P.M. (until 6 P.M. in July and August)
Services Provided
During July and August, the Fort Ticonderoga Fife and Drum Corps performs throughout the day, followed by artillery demonstrations, weather permitting. The King's Garden, a formal English-style walled garden designed in 1920, has been restored and is open for tours by appointment. The garden was designed by Marian Cruger Coffin, the first American woman to receive a degree in landscape architecture. The Thompson-Pell Research Center is open to researchers year-round by appointment. The Fort's archives, library, and artifacts are available for study by qualified researchers. Additional Information
Fort Ticonderoga was built by the French in 1755 and originally called "Carillon". The British renamed it Ticonderoga. Congress decommissioned the Fort in 1781. The ruins were purchased in 1820 by William Ferris Pell and restoration began in 1908. The Museum opened to the public in 1909. School groups should plans at least a two hour time block, more if plans are to visit the King's Garden. The Museum and grounds are partially wheelchair accessible and handicapped bathrooms are available as well as a store, picnic area, and restaurant.
