Office hours 9 A.M. - 4 P.M. Monday through Friday; answering machine available if office is not open

Services Provided

Tutoring service in basic reading skills for non-readers and beginning readers; tutoring for the General Equivalency Diploma in cooperation with the GRASP program; tutoring in English as a second language program (ESL).

We also have offices in Saranac Lake (891-5567), the Lake Placid Library (523-5994) and Malone (483-9366)

Volunteer Opportunities

Tutors are volunteers. Tutor training is held at various locations throughout Essex County with eighteen (18) hours of training required.

Additional Information

Homework assignments are designed within the students' capabilities. Tutoring in reading, writing, and arithmetic.

Literacy Volunteers of Essex County serves the entire Essex County geographic region. Outreach office located in Saranac Lake.
