Diane Bonenfant
"I have been Director here since August 1996. I am on a "special assignment leave" from the Northeastern Clinton Central School District.
Throughout my 8 years, I have been providing professional development training to districts dealing with such topics as rubric development, constructing DBQ's, questioning techniques, and use of the NYS standards and resource guides documents. I am a member of the NYS Teacher Center Public Relations committee, where I serve as it's co-chair, and have just finished 4 years as a member of the NYS Teacher Centers Higher Education Institutions Committee.
I have also been involved with the NYS Assessment Liaison Trainings for the past 7 1/2 years. Im my position as Director, I deal with district superintendents, principals, and staff, in trying to provide quality professional development activities for all educators in Clinton and Essex counties. The NCTRC also does community outreach so that other organizations involved in education can participate in our activities and take advantage of our resources.
What I bring to the position and to the teacher center is a 29 year career as an educator and a love of teaching. Now, instead of teaching children, I work with their teachers and support staff to help support and augment their teaching skills, so they can assist their students to become successful lifelong learners. I have always professed that learning is truly a lifelong process. We cannot stop learning because there is no advanced degree to pursue-- if I don't learn at least one new thing each day, my day is not complete! There is certainly not a lack of learning and helping opportunities for me here at NCTRC! "
